Climate Sunday

Creation care, parish climate action and historical Climate Sunday resources.

Care for creation

Faith, hope and care for our common home

The parish Climate Sunday archive records the work of the Guardian Angels for Climate Sunday group and the community’s involvement in Christian climate action around COP26.

The material below is clearly organised as a historical parish record, with older dates and campaigns kept in context rather than presented as current notices.

Climate Sunday at St. Peter’s

The older page covered several years of parish activity. It is now separated into clear themes so the historical material is easier to browse.

What was Climate Sunday?

The national initiative encouraged churches across Great Britain and Ireland to hold climate-focused worship, commit to practical action and speak up for a cleaner, fairer future ahead of COP26.

Guardian Angels for Climate Sunday

The parish group was formed in January 2021 and joined wider Christian action around COP26, creation care and climate justice.

One World Week

The parish celebrated unity, diversity and care for creation, including art, poetry and essay activities for younger parishioners.

Parish commitment

The archive includes worship resources, creation prayers, COP26 material and parish updates shared during 2021.

Prayer for COP26

Stewards of creation

The parish prayer praised God for creation and asked the Holy Spirit to inspire leaders to embrace fair and sustainable solutions, especially for the poorest and most vulnerable.

This prayer and the surrounding COP26 material are retained as a historical parish record.

More from the original Climate Sunday archiveGreat Big Green Week, parish liturgy and TED Countdown

The parish archive also records participation in the Great Big Green Week in September 2021 and Climate Sunday liturgies held on 26–27 June 2021. The page linked to TED Countdown material about climate action and Pope Francis’s call for people across faiths and societies to work together to protect the Earth and promote human dignity.
