Prayer, service and information about the parish Legion of Mary.
Prayer & service
The Legion of Mary is an international apostolic organisation of lay Catholics who seek to grow in holiness through prayer, devotion to Our Lady and practical service to others.
This parish page preserves the group information previously published by St. Peter and the Guardian Angels while making its status and safeguarding expectations easier to understand.
The retained parish notice says the Legion was not meeting at the time the original page was published, while members continued to pray with and for one another. Please contact the parish for the current meeting status.
About the Legion
Members seek to give glory to God through prayer, devotion to Our Lady and the sanctification of their everyday lives.
The original parish page described visitation of families and the sick, collaboration in parish apostolates and concern for people’s spiritual and social welfare.
The Legion was described as a way to meet fellow parishioners, pray together and serve people across the wider community.
Parish information
The basic unit of the Legion of Mary is called a praesidium. Its weekly meeting combines prayer, reports and discussion as members reflect on their apostolic work.
The former parish page said the local Legion met on Tuesdays at 6.00pm in the Newman Room and held a Patrician meeting once a month. Because that information is historical, visitors should confirm current arrangements with the parish.
The Legion welcomes new members. Because some work involves vulnerable people, the parish page states that prospective members need an interview and a DBS check, and must follow safeguarding expectations including confidentiality.
The parish page marked the Legion’s centenary in 2021 as a time of joy, celebration and thanksgiving.
